Content Management using SpaceBuilder - Templates vs. Modules
Template pages are by definition carbon copies. Modular constructions have the ability to be completely unique to any page.
Creating a unique page using a template system would require the skill and time of a graphic designer and a programmer. Spacebuilder requires neither. Using a purely modular system, the end user is empowered to create his or her own original blueprint. Template systems almost always employ the “Windows Explorer 'r'” layout. This model, consisting of a fixed horizontal header (top) and fixed vertical navigation system (left) resembles the ubiquitous format common to 92% of desktop operating systems. It is therefore not surprising that the 'r' arrangement is used in the majority of web pages. While the SpaceBuilder modular method can employ the 'r', it is only one of a myriad of possible configurations available in this highly versatile content management system
Efficiencies in the Spacebuilder modular method allow for greater attention to detail in the creation of modules. Users therefore benefit from higher levels functionality. The structure of a modular web site or intranet can be updated incrementally, at a fraction of the cost of a customised content managed web page.
