Features of SpaceBuilder Web Design and Content Management

Not only does Spacebuilder build dynamic, database-driven websites on the fly, it also builds Content Management Systems that integrate fully with these dynamic web sites. Using a flexible, module driven system, Spacebuilder manages the content and design of dynamic web sites. In addition, the content and design management systems are woven into the intranet side of a business. The public website content management and design management family of modules provides a comprehensive array of functions and features, all of which can be performed with a single click of the mouse. Some module families in this group:

Add item An 'Add item' module is used to add content to the company's website. Text is edited through an interface which closely resembles today's most popular word processor. Text can also be copied and pasted from the popular word processor into the interface which retains the formatting. Images can be added as easily by clicking the 'browse' button. The add item module also performs the task of picture editor resizing and optimizing the chosen image to a standard comparable to the recent version of Adobe Photoshop®;

Manage Items: These modules give access to website content through a list of pages, categories and subcategories. Clicking on the name of page will display all content residing on that page;

Manage Pages : The user can choose which pages to display through the various navigation modules. Pages can be turned on or off , without affecting the rest of the site in any way. Thus a page with a specific function (e.g one which advertises a ‘sale’) can remain inactive until such time as the user chooses to make it visible;

Manage Categories and Subcategories : Many websites require a two or three tier hierarchy. These modules allow the user to create, position and name categories and subcategories. Categories and Subcategories can also be turned ‘on’ or ‘ off ’ with a single click.

Metadata : These modules allow the user to add or edit the keywords included i n the 'header' area of the company's website. When the user has finished editing the keywords, this module inserts the keywords into all of the company's website pages. What may have taken a professional web designer or programmer several hours can now be achieved by any user in a few moments. By carefully selecting meta titles, meta descriptions and meta keywords, the user can ensure that the website receives frequent visits as people browse the net using search engines such as Google or Ananzi. The better chosen the search words, the greater the chance of the website appearing on the first page of the search engine;

Universal Data : These modules provide a single storage point for company particulars such as telephone numbers, email addresses, physical locations, key staff names, mission statements etc. This kind of information is then distributed to all company websites, invoices, letterheads, adverts etc. A company using this module within its E-business suite will never experience an out-of date reference of any kind. Also, if a particular should change or another one added, all that is required is for the user to make the change in a single location. Branding Imagery A company's logo is an integral part of the branding process. This module allows the logo to be placed on any or all web pages, making the company's presence felt and seen on all pages of the website. Again, if the company logo is updated or changed, only a single point needs to be updated even if the website has one hundred pages;

Colour Management : There are several modules within this module family. The user has a choice of pre-set colour schemes and designs or can create and change the colours on web pages at will. Spacebuilder's colour wheel allows fine shade colour changes which automatically reflect throughout the website and on the private company pages if desired;

Design Management : The dynamic page generator 'brings it all together', by creating a page or incorporating all changes made to a page. This module gives the user access to the 'shopping' environment, the place where specific modules can be chosen for any given web page. It opens a wide range of design choices which add to the creation of a page which is visually exciting and not at all generic.
